How it works

Pick your ratio and enter the gas in the can. You get the oil in fl oz and ml. Switch to “Gas for my oil” to use up a bottle of oil.
Example: 50:1 means 50 parts gas to 1 part oil, so 1 US gallon (128 fl oz) ÷ 50 = 2.56 fl oz of oil. At 40:1 it is 3.2 fl oz, at 32:1 4 fl oz.
Metric: 1 L ÷ 50 = 20 ml, so a 5 L can at 50:1 takes 100 ml. A 2.6 fl oz bottle at 50:1 mixes with 130 fl oz of gas, 1.02 gal.

Frequently asked questions

How much oil for 1 gallon of gas at 50:1?

2.56 fl oz (76 ml). 1 US gallon is 128 fl oz, and 128 ÷ 50 = 2.56.

How much oil for 1 gallon at 40:1?

3.2 fl oz (95 ml): 128 ÷ 40 = 3.2.

How much oil for 1 gallon at 32:1?

4 fl oz (118 ml): 128 ÷ 32 = 4.

How much oil for 2.5 gallons at 50:1?

6.4 fl oz (189 ml): 2.5 × 128 = 320 fl oz of gas, and 320 ÷ 50 = 6.4.

Which ratio does my engine need?

The one in your engine’s manual. Most current chainsaws, trimmers and blowers call for 50:1; older equipment and many dirt bikes run 32:1 or 40:1. Don’t guess: too little oil can wear out the engine.
